EPA and DOE Announce State Energy Efficiency Action Network

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy are pleased to announce the creation of the State Energy Efficiency Action Network (SEE Action). SEE Action will build upon the progress of the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency (Action Plan) by addressing multi-state needs for advancing greater, sustainable investment in energy efficiency and assisting individual states in advancing energy efficiency policies and programs.
The goal of SEE Action is to assist energy policymakers, utility regulators, energy efficiency program administrators, and other market participants in achieving all cost-effective energy efficiency by 2020 - five years earlier than originally envisioned by the Action Plan. SEE Action will consider more than just ratepayer funded energy efficiency programs and will examine the full array of opportunities to achieve greater energy efficiency. SEE Action will complement and add to the ongoing technical assistance that U.S. DOE and U.S. EPA offer to states.
New SEE Action working groups will be created to address obstacles common to multiple states and advance consistent approaches and best practices. Working groups are expected in the areas of residential efficiency programs, financing solutions, evaluation of program savings, and improving availability of energy usage information.
The U.S. DOE will also be offering funding opportunities to individual states that seek to create new results-based policies and programs that encourage energy efficiency now and in the future. More information on funding opportunities will be available later this month.
